SPECIAL ENGAGEMENT

September 27
at the Camelot Theater
OUT IN THE DARK
by Michael Mayer

Friday, September 27

This very powerful award winning film OUT IN THE DARK, is coming to Palm Springs' Camelot Theater for a special engagement on September 27.Winner of multiple festival awards, OUT IN THE DARK follows the border-crossing relationship between an Israeli lawyer (Michael Aloni) and a Palestinian student (Nicholas Jacob). Seamlessly blending elements of romance, drama, and suspense, this flick is a true genre-bender.

Nimer, an ambitious Palestinian student in the West Bank dreams of a better life abroad. One fateful night in Tel Aviv, he meets Roy, an Israeli lawyer, and the two fall in love. As their relationship deepens, they are both confronted with the harsh realities of a Palestinian society that refuses to accept Nimer for his sexual identity, and an Israeli society that rejects him for his nationality. When Nimerʼs close friend is caught hiding illegally in Tel Aviv and sent back to the West Bank, where he is brutally murdered, Nimer is forced to choose between the life he thought he wanted and his love for Roy.You can catch the trailer at

The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told
by Paul Rudnick

Friday, November 15 thru Sunday, December 22

First the stage manager calls cues for The Creation and then it gets complicated. The Garden of Eden has never been so gay. Adam & Steve and Jane & Mabel decide to invent civilization, They travel on Noah's ark (watch those horny rhinos), become enslaved by a fabulous pharaoh in ancient Egypt, and meet up again the Nativity. Act Two takes us to contemporary New York City on Christmas Eve and a child is born. A wildly funny fantasia on biblical themes that take a good hard look at love, faith, family, and the meaning of life.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS PARADE HISTORY
Sunday, December 01

The Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade kicked off for the first time on December 5, 1992 along Palm Canyon Drive and has been held every year since on the first Saturday in December -- becoming a much-loved holiday tradition in downtown Palm Springs! The parade was the brainchild of a small group of community minded individuals who believed it important to offer the Coachella Valley an event that would allow people to celebrate and participate in the spirit and joy of the holiday season while at the same time creating a unique tourism event which over the years has continued to grow – today bringing in an estimated 80,000 people annually to the downtown. Over the past 21 years, the parade has featured a host of marching bands, performing groups as well as the Budweiser Clydesdales, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Snoopy and the Gang – and of course Santa and Mrs Claus!

Yet more than anything else, it is the parade's signature floats adorned in colorful holiday lights and the famous dancing tractor, the largest in the world, decorated with over 20 miles of lights -- that keeps the crowds coming back for more! Consistently voted one of the best local events in the Coachella Valley. “Over the years, the Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade has become a beloved holiday tradition in downtown – bringing thousands of Coachella Valley residents and their families as well as tourists from all over the world to come see the twinkling floats while celebrating the joy of the holiday season in Palm Springs,” says Mayor Steve Pougnet. “There’s no other event in the Coachella Valley quite like it!” This year’s parade is slated to kick off at 5:45 pm on Saturday, Dec. 1 at Ramon Road and Palm Canyon Drive. You won’t want to miss it!
